BBC News: “A German man could be jailed for three years over a comment posted on the internet, in which prosecutors say he belittled the events of 11 September.”
Apparently, Germany has a crime called “glorification of a criminal act.” That’s just plain silly. What kind of crime is this law supposed to suppress? I suppose you could theoretically get jailed for praising a Robin Hood-copycat.
While I think that praising 9/11 is tasteless, making it illegal is outright retarded.

Dean Allen of Textism is about to unleash his homegrown CMS, Textpattern, upon the world. Since I’ve grown quite tired of the template system of MovableType, I’m following this with great interest.
I’ve been thinking about (once again) redesigning the site, and the constant rebuilding with MT annoyed me to no end the last time. Textpattern is generated dynamically on the fly, so any changes to templates are instant.
Textpattern has an impressive list of features considering that this will be the first public release, and his Textile text formatting system is pure genius.
The only thing holding me back (well, besides the fact that Textpattern hasn’t been released yet) is the possibility of importing all my entries from MT into Textpattern, but I’m sure the LazyWeb™ will solve that.

—I think we can assume that these entities are more advanced than us. Why don’t they just come right out and tell us what’s on their minds?
—You’re more advanced than a cockroach, have you ever tried explaining yourself to one of them?

Another day. Another year. Another monthly archive.
Spent the last hours of 2002 in the company of Magnus, Cecilia, Erika and Martin over at Magnus’ and Cecilia’s place. Ate some food in peace and tranquility, and then a new bunch of people arrived and the alcohol started to flow.
Minttu was interesting. A Finnish snaps, 50% alcohol. And a large chunk of the remaining percentage is mint. The dangerous part is that it barely tastes of alcohol at all…
Well. I didn’t drink much (rarely do), and not even two shots of Minttu made me particularly influenced. Could write more, but now I’m going to bed. Work tomorrow. Or today, rather.
