Zen according to Echo
After having read up on it, a Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen (bite on that product name) looks more interesting than an iPod.
It’s slightly larger than an iPod and weighs about 30% more (though 268 grams is still nothing), and the interface doesn’t look especially interesting. What does sound compelling, though, is a 20 Gb hard drive for 200 SEK less than the cost of an iPod with 5 Gb. I’m wondering what the catch is…
It speaks Firewire and USB 2.0, so I’ll still need a Firewire card. If I buy the Zen from Datorbutiken, I’ll throw one in for about 300 SEK.
Total cost for Zen + Firewire card and shipping: 4140 SEK.

Let me see if I get this straight; you choose that product over the globally recognized best damn mp3 player because you’ll save a mere 200 SEK?
I mean, that one might be good too, I have no idea. I do know however, that the iPod is the mp3 player and 200 SEK more or less is irrelevant. Heck, you could probably find the iPod 200 SEK cheaper via pricerunner.com, anyway..

I’ve heard disturbing things about the iPod battery starting to give up its breath after less than a year. That’s pretty serious to me, especially since Apple doesn’t replace it, but instead give you a “great offer” of $50 off if you buy a new one when your battery has died.
Also, I’m not just doing it for 200 SEK, I’m doing it for four times the disk space as well.
(Equivalent iPod: 5995 SEK)

I have the slightly larger Creative Nomad Jukebox 20Gb and I’m fairly pleased with it, but I’m selling it now to buy an iPod.
